Giambattista Valli: Haute Couture AW16

Giambattista Valli’s latest couture outing started off a bit little house on the prairie. That is, had said little house on the prairie girl been dunked in a big pot of sparkle and ruffle. Which sort of transformed her into a bit of an eighties country star. A little Dolly Parton. And, being an icon of womanhood as she is, it was obviously amazing. Flashy, fabulous, feminine. And then we went into frouf. Fabulous frouf. That’s Mr Valli’s strong point, is it not? What would a Valli show be without some giant puffs of tulle? They were almost edible. Maybe we’re just hungry, we haven’t eaten much today. How many calories does a couture dress has? Either way, this was fashion fantasy turned up to ten. And really, the reason that we all turn out to couture week in the first place. To transport us out of our (slightly) less glamorous lives. So, Mr Valli, congratulations. Keep it coming.
