This is a homage to a crotched quilt, apparently. Consider Chitose Abe, as we have done many times before, the queen of the mash-up. This is a bit like diving into one of those clothing recycling banks only to climb out miraculously fully clothed, and not just fully clothed, but the epitome of Japanese chic. And not at all like in that urban myth where the guy gets into one, gets stuck half way and then someone bums him. Nope. Think – perfectly draped bits of bandana constructed into a poncho, Afghan fabric, the trench coat, reworked into a new, voluminous silhouette.
