The Rolling Stones: Exhibitionism At The Saatchi Gallery

rolling-stonesExhibitionism – nope, not the inappropriate revealing of one’s genital regions (this time), but a brand new Rolling Stones retrospective opening today at the Saatchi Gallery. Apparently, it’s “the most comprehensive and immersive insight into the brand’s fascinating fifty year history” – filled to the proverbial brim with stage designs, costumes, rare music and the slightly suspicious sounding “dressing room paraphernalia” which may or may not have assisted in the eventual fall of Keith Richards from a palm tree. An aural and visual way to achieve ultimate satisfaction, basically. And, talking of satisfaction, there is also what is called a “wraparound cinematic experience” for those of you who want to experience being simultaneously embraced by all four members of the Rolling Stones at the same time. Don’t say you haven’t wished for it.

According to the ever-reliable “blurb” from Mr Saatchi and his gallery, where the exhibition will take over all nine rooms until September – “the Rolling Stones have shaped popular culture, often in their own image, and this exhibition will offer a unique perspective that only the band’s own archive can provide. Collaborations and work by a vast array of artists, designers, musicians and writers will be included – from Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey, Alexander McQueen, and Ossie Clark to Tom Stoppard and Martin Scorsese.”
