With models whizzing around a wooden maze in central Paris, Riccardo Tisci recreated all the drama and magic of Ancient Egypt for Givenchy. He loves a bit of mystery, does Tisci. This season, he fused Egyptian culture with sixties psychedelia – birds unfurled multicoloured, patchwork wings across short metallic leather jackets, prints whirled kaleidoscopically across short satin shifts, and tailoring was trademark razor-sharp, riveted with metal to emphasise their graphic lines. The colour palette spelled opulence – gold dominated, in lurex cloque trimmed in velvet, braided in gilt like an officer’s mess jacket, and sometime veiled in chiffon (more mystery, see). We also loved the cone-shaped, engraved metallic heels, like precious Egyptian artefacts, but for our feet. Wonder if they have them in a size 39?
