Mr Philipp Plein doesn’t believe in doing things by halves. You remember those spectacular nineties shows packed with pyrotechnics and supermodels? Well, add in some monster trucks and a live musical performance each season, and you’ll get the backdrop Philipp Plein chooses for his clothes, underscored with a throbbing rock identity and a pulsing energy that is quite unlike anything else in Milan – or maybe in fashion generally. Plein and simple. He’s giving Kanye a run for his Yeezy staging money with his rock concert-meets-fashion show spectaculars. Except Mr Plein doesn’t have an album to promote… well, not yet, at least. But anything is possible in Pleinland.
