Alasdair McLellan: Ceremony

Alasdair Ceremony

Some scantily clad men, courtesy of Alasdair McLellan and his new photographic tome, Ceremony. Scantily clad army boys, no less. Suffice to say Ten Towers isn’t complaining. The images, originally taken for Arena Homme + in 2006, document the world of the ceremonial wing of the British Army, you know – those ones that like ride horses and look pretty, often found outside Royal Residences, sometimes with a fancy helmet upon their heads. Or something. Over to the more eloquent words of Jo-Ann Furniss, who wrote the introduction – “the photographs provide a little glimpse into the workings of the British Army through the filter of its most glittering manifestation: the ceremonial troops”. Now, it’s probably sold old already, but if you head to IDEA Books in Dover Street Mark and beg/borrow/steal, there might be one lurking down the back of a cabinet or something. Oh, and the proceeds go to for ABF The Soldiers Charity, which supports troops, veterans and their families. Perfect for those of you who like their coffee table books with a healthy dash of social conscience. Lovely.
