Lou Dalton could we working for the Shetland tourist board, so heartfelt, warm and woolly was her latest autumn/winter collection – which was devoted to the Scottish island famed for its wool and the jumpers knitted from them. Dalton collated with John Smedley to make some, often cabled and maybe printed with fishnetty designs inspired by the blokes of Shetland, as opposed to just the sheep. Those blokes are hardy outdoor sorts – fishermen, farmers, men of the land. They’d love these clothes, hobnail boots and all. We did too.
