Apparently Cottweiler’s Autumn/Winter 16 collection begun with Youtube videos of a fetish community “that involves wading through mud fully clothed”. Which admittedly is something not even the more – let’s say, risque – members of Team Ten have partaken in. To our knowledge, anyway. But ever the method-designers Ben and Matt are, the duo went mud diving clad in archive pieces and, instead of getting turned on (I mean, we’re presuming), it became the basis for the collection – wading pants cinched in at the waist, constructed in kinky see-through fabric, strange Croc-esque shoes that slipped over trainers. Perfect gear for the weekend fetishist. But actually, that was just part of a wider message about man vs nature – “it’s about a future community starting again,” they explained. “We’ve been inspired by agriculture and the neolithic period this season, and the symbolism of wheat.” And wheat was all around the room, emerging from plastic troughs, on little necklaces that sat on the model’s chest and woven on to the clothing itself. The future of agriculture? Maybe. The perfectly formed, super desirable, unbranded separates that lurked amongst it, the future of sportswear? Yer, definitely. Keep an eye on this pair.
