Plastic is fantastic – at least in the hands of Jonathan “JW” Anderson, whose spring Loewe show was a veritable treatise on the transformation of trash into treasure. Or rather, into folded plastic clutch bags, PVC trousers, tops made from uncut Loewe label jacquard and ankle-boots clattering with jumbo press-studs. The whole point was to make the raw into something rarefied – a major emergent theme of the spring season as a whole. And as with so much in fashion today, Anderson does it better than most.
