“The utilitarian spirit of a desert safari and the Mediterranean attitude of a cotton smock shirt” were the starting point for this collection apparently. Though if you think that that’ll translate into some Lawrence of Arabia type garb you’d be wrong. This is more desert safari a la Naomi Campbell in Michael Jackson’s In The Closet. Multi-coloured, knitted together strips of lace stretch across the body, exposing shoulders and adorned with tiny slightly askew ruffles. The panelling of the various layers of lace in short zipped up jackets has a sportiness to it that’s reminiscent in a way of a 70’s tracksuit jacket, the arrangement of the panels bringing to mind the seaming of those jackets, giving a sense masculinity to the more overtly feminine and sensuous nature of the collection.
