Gareth Pugh was almost joyful this season, which when you usually think of his work, you think of it as being darker yet this time round it was fun for want of a better word. The clothes, the majority of which came out in a sea of bright red were inspired by the idea of Soho, where he presented his latest collection, and the “feelings of euphoria, of danger and of possibility” he felt when he first arrived in Soho to study at Central Saint Martins. Think cabaret performer, but it’s not gaudy. Chiffons and silks are bias cut and free flowing and come in floor length candy stripes, with swathes of sequins in red and gold adding a little sparkle to the festivities.
