Alexander Wang has always been about the girls – or rather his girls, comprising the major league models he’s always booked (for spring, Lara Stone closed his show) and the legion on the streets he’s dressed. This collection was a return to Wang’s roots on the sidewalks of Manhattan, clad in dynamic mixes of sportswear, lingerie, leathers, denim and t-shirting, artfully mixed to look randomly mashed together. Much like the greatest hits clip Wang played at breakneck speed, collaging a decade of catwalk shows together. The only consistent bit was the cool. It’s still there. In spades.
