Joseph Altuzarra apparently found out he had Basque heritage this year. I don’t mean basque like the jutted-out, cinched in corsety things favoured by Lacroix et al the eighties, but the bit of Spain in the crook of the Pyrenees. That inspired Altuzarra to stick a heel on an espadrille, to cut slender pencil skirts in sandy shades of burnt ochre and taupe, to truss up his models in leather and crocodile, despite it being summer. Tricky to pull off, for sure. Maybe a bit sweaty. But convincing.
