Flemish masters and futurism. Not a mix you hear all the time – even in fashion, that lives an X meeting a Y. But Raf Simons’ installation at Christian Dior some three years hence was a curveball, and he’s carried on twisting the Dior legacy in ways we’ve never before seen. The house codes here were warped and twisted, the full skirted Dior evening gowns contrasted with sisters pulled in against the body in monastic, elongated silhouettes. And all staged in a pointillist chapel. It’s the church of Dior. And we’re the devout congregation.
