‘A/W 11’, Written and Directed by Dries Van Noten (U) 20mins. ***** (five stars)
This upbeat production from one of the finest auteurs of the genre was no disappointment. A mismash of different eras and influences from Op Art to Chinoiserie were given the director’s signature style (and cut beautifully of course). His heroines were unashamedly intelligent, aspirational yet easy to relate to and pulled off their roles beautifully. Key to the plot were wide legs and a relaxed silhouette and a very happy ending took the form of multi-print dresses with long skirts split to the thigh. Destined to become a classic. Something for everyone and fun for all the family.
