The venue was beautiful with the most amazing chandelier in the centre and when the models came out the mood was glamorous and effortless. They glided like beautiful tall birds; graceful and confident of their beauty. The collection was inspired by the plumage of exotic birds of prey.
I loved the shorter dresses which looked like they held onto the body by magic, bold drapes and gathers contrasting with subtle fragile looking edges and trims. The big signature zips in the back were present on most of them: they give the dress a sense of solidity. Most of the dresses were made out of silk but one stood out in a beige loose weave, it looked so fragile and dry, it was a nice contrast to all the vivid rich coloured satins and wools in the rest of the collection.
Some fun giant sequins studded wool dresses, rough edged coats and jackets, all in quite straight shapes worked well as a nice opposition to the general fluidity of the collection. The long dresses were to die for… How I wish I was a tall amazon so I could pull off these lovely creations!! My favourite one was a big billowing sleeveless orange one all gathered up into a bold neck frill (actually with very high heels I would probably get away with that one!!!)
The shoes by Kirkwood were lovely: Coloured high sandals in vivid colours with a strap around the ankle finish with natural coloured leather..so desirable!!! Roksanda’s evening wear is so instinctive, organic and yet it somehow gives the wearer a sense of confident feminine power.
