Sasha Grey By Richard Phillips When I Was A

‘SASHA GREY’ BY RICHARD PHILLIPS

When I was a Saturday boy at American Apparel Sasha Grey’s figure was sprawled all over the shop fittings. A happy distraction for many boyfriends accompanying their other half on a weekend spending spree. Mixing this spot of modelling with starring roles in various adult films, Grey’s career has since ascended to obtaining the lead in Steven Soderbergh’s film The Girlfriend Experience. Grey currently features in artist Richard Phillips short film for the 54th annual Venice Biennale, as part of The Gagosian Gallery’s ‘commercial break’. Phillips is famed for his hyper real paintings of women, that feel like airbrush magazine covers of the 60’s and 70’s. The artist must have been drawn to Grey’s old school sexiness, which is refreshingly ‘girl next door’.
