So was this Basketball Wives (stole that one of a friend) or Gym Class Heroes? Tisci certainly enjoys a good piece of bod mod jewellery. Ok, ok I’ll stop, you’re right- a collection this beautiful is deserving of a slightly more serious approach. Let’s just break down exactly what we saw at yesterdays gawp inspiring presentation. 22 Art Deco inspired gowns embellished with geometric embroderies and mettalic detailing. Regimented grids of crystals on silk washed satin, and stripes of beading across silk organza. This was paired with hand cut crocodile skins, dissected and sewn onto garments according to their naturally occurring patterns, creating a ‘sensual puzzle’ across the skin. Crystal drop fringing added a certain weight, and heightened the sense of fluidity. Looks were accessorised with leather gloves, Metropolis style robotic heels, and the same cumbersome nose hoops which featured in the mens show. An exaggerated version of the piercing which once adorned Stella Tennant, who was our stand out spot of casting. Riccardo makes the ancient art of Couture feel contemporary. The pairing of exquisite craftsmanship and harder street style references, affording his collections a futuristic almost alien air. A HUGE highlight of our season, we truly treasure our seasonal expeditions to planet Givenchy!
