VERSACE: M.I.A VERSUS VERSACE CAPSULE COLLECTION
I’ve been a big fan of M.I.A since day dot. Something to do with the fact that she also hails from Hounslow? Well beyond that it’s just the continuity of her vision. You can see it here with her collaborative collection for Versus Versace, where the houses iconic motifs have been plundered, and simplified- sort of effed up, to the effect of that first (by my recollection) video Galang where her stenciled and sprayed imagery hammers its way across the screen. We’re having a full on ’05 throw back this morning (minus the whole leggings thing) with the full first album, whilst admiring these new shots of the collection by Jamie Martinez. Is that Dalston market by the way? Down by Paks? Anyway, the 19 piece collection-which has rather brilliantly been inspired by rip off’s the Grammy award winning artist bought as a teenager, will be available online and in selected stores from October 16th. Best paired with Colgate teeth. Obvs.
