EDITOR’S LETTER
Okay Tenners, here goes with my rather late editor’s letter. Nats and Sam the sub are screaming at me. All I can say is sorry – I tried to write it on the train journey to Devon at Christmas. But instead I watched Ripper Street on the BBC iPlayer. Then I tried again on the return journey, and you’ll never believe what happened – I watched the iPlayer again, but this time Atlantis (well, the lead-actor guy is hot). I love television – what more do you want from me? So now it’s a major problem, and I’m having to knock it out (the letter, nothing else) while sitting at the shows for London Collections: Men and doing that other activity I love so much: watching boys strut their stuff. And guess what, Tenners – it’s making me think about the seasons.
Do we need season any more? No we don’t, we just need amazing fashions that make people want to shop. And directional, abstract clothes that stylists want to shoot. There should be no space for mediocrity on the show calendar or in store. Let’s have a return to excess and fashion. “Why not indeed?!” I hear you all scream in response.
Anyway back to the issue, which was my starting point really. There are no shots of Speedo-clad, beautiful boys on the beach – that would be because it’s a spring issue. It is February, after all. And there is no issue theme – it’s just a fashion issue. And what could be wrong with that?
Hope it inspires you to wear full-on fashion rather than the daily uniform of blue jeans and a grey marl T-shirt that I tend to adhere to so much. The universe would be a very dull place without colour, texture and a little bit of bling.
