Vicky B has opened her first store and “second home” on London’s Dover Street.
“For the first time, it’s my designs, my vision. This is how I feel the clothes should be showcased, how I like them to be seen,“ VB told WWD. “That’s been very exciting for me — to be able to buy what I believe the customer wants.” The space, designed by the architect Fashid Moussavi, who designed the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland, spans three floors. It’s like a contemporary art gallery or, judging by the amount of polished concrete and stainless steel, a Donald Judd work. The clothes themselves are hung on golden zigzag clothing rails, suspended from the ceiling with equally golden chains. suspended from the ceiling by golden chain hangers. The reception? “Wow, mummy has a proper job!” remarked her son, Cruz. “This is the coolest shop ever!” according to Brooklyn. We believe you, Brooklyn. But if you’re not convinced, you’ll have to pay the shop, which opens tomorrow, a visit yourself.
