Angels in America. Not the HBO five parter (which personally, I’m rather obsessed with), but a totally new drama, executed through the white on white Haute Couture creations of Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. Seemingly sent from the heavens above by way of 1960’s Manhattan, a 47 look one-off showing descended upon the city that never sleeps yesterday evening. An homage to Valentino Garavani’s 1968 Sala Bianca show in Florence which shocked and excited American clientele with it’s ‘non-colour’ approach. Simultaneously inspired by the creation of Marcel Breuer’s ‘non-colour’ design for NYC’s Whitney Museum of Modern Art, inaugurated two years prior. A deliciously extravagant, but somehow still understated way of celebrating the brands arrival at 693 Fifth Avenue with their brand new flagship store. What’s that in the distance? Why it’s the sound of the cities wealthy and most fabulous residents banging down their door.
