Coach The Collaboration

Imagine Snoopy, just for a second. A leather Snoopy. Snoopy re-created in black leather. It’s kind of appealing, no? Not in a kinky way – it’s Snoopy, after all. He suits leather very well. So much so that Coach have actually re-created him in leather. In celebration of Peanuts. Or, as they put it, an iconic moment in American pop culture. This is what is known as American heritage and American pop culture colliding. Or something like that. Either way, the collision gives good mascot. It gives good bag, and leather accessory, too. So in celebration of the celebration, we give you Snoopy facts, which sounds a bit like Scooby snacks, but isn’t, as when it comes to awards for top dog, Snoopy will always win.

* Snoopy was originally supposed to be named Sniffy. But then his creator, Charles Schulz, discovered that name was used in a different comic strip. He changed it to Snoopy after remembering that his mother had once commented that if they were ever to acquire a third dog, it should be called Snoopy.

* His most famous alter ego is Flying Ace, a First World War fighter pilot, for which he would wear goggles, a flying helmet and a scarf and climb on top of his doghouse, which he claimed was a Sopwith Camel. He is often seen battling his archenemy, the Red Baron. He also sometimes dons the guise of Joe Cool, which involves sunglasses and leaning against a wall doing nothing.

* Snoopy has also been a famous writer, a published writer (unfortunately the one copy of his book failed to sell), a bow-tie-wearing lawyer who once defended Peter Rabbit, a hockey player, an Olympic figure skater who used to skate with Peggy Fleming before he hit the big time, and a world-famous grocery-checkout clerk who operated from the top of his doghouse in an apron.

* He is also the Lone Beagle, the first dog to fly solo across the Atlantic, and the first astronaut to land on the moon.

* He once became a flash (tap) dancer named Flashbeagle.

* He plays shortstop on Charlie Brown’s baseball team. Obviously, he’s the best player, nearly surpassing Babe Ruth’s number of home runs.

* He’s also a Beagle Scout, and the Scout leader for his troop.

* He likes root beer and pizza. He dislikes coconut candy. He gets claustrophobic in tall weeds and is afraid of icicles dangling over his doghouse. His hobbies include reading War and Peace at the rate of “a word a day”.

* He can use his ears to fly about like a canine helicopter.

* His dog-food brand is called “For Dogs who flew in World War I and understand a little French”. Snoopy can actually speak a little French.
