Giorgio Armani was looking for “the essence of male beauty” in his spring/summer collection. But what is male beauty? Is it pretty boys or handsome men? Or both? Yesterday, Sig. Armani made a case for the latter. His band of merry, handsome (and eyeliner-wearing) men stormed the runway at his spring/summer show yesterday. They were dressed in a wardrobe of luxury Italian tailoring. This tailoring had some updates though, bringing it into 2015. Trousers cut with a drop crotch (almost) and trousers pleated at the top and tapered at the bottom. Jackets were fitted but not tight making them as easy to wear as they are they are luxurious. Luxury is an often-thrown-around word. But this really is luxury. The type belonging to the financial elites of the West and Middle East – think celebrities of Los Angeles and princes of Saudi Arabia. Just look at the crocodile skin, the velvet, the vicuna. A collection that screams luxury as loud as a fire alarm.
