Gucci Milan Fashion Week Aw15

Gucci today was the dawning of a new chapter for the house. And as we waited in anticipation to see Alessandro Michele’s vision for the house, I was so relieved that he showed the confidence and vision to immediately create a new language for the house – a softer and more poetic language. Androgyny was the discussion – less Va Va voom sexy and instead a more gentle, eclectic and a little eccentric girl who wears flowers in her hair and has a more crumpled, laid-back attitude to fashion, a softer a little more of a thrift store attitude and a little reminiscent of Grey Gardens baby Eddie and Gwyneth in the Royal Tenenbaums. Lux thrift fur and silk chiffons layered, fur-lined Gucci loafer slippers, clogs and floaty floral gowns. Suiting too was so much more relaxed and casual low-slung crumpled florals patterned offerings that felt easy and less restrictive. There still was an abundance of transparency but a new found attitude to it that was modern and still totally desirable. There will without doubt be a new customer for the house with a more fashion forward attitude and it was as far as I was concerned a total triumph for the house of Gucci. Well done Alessandro Michele for being brave and bold enough to take this house and carve a new language with such confidence and conviction. Looking forward for a bright and brilliant future at the house.
