Roland Mouret: London Pre Collections 2016

There’s a new length here. A longer length. The kind that hits mid calf. It’s a very saucy length. There are also pleats. There’s a sense of full ness here, a sort of plumping if you will of bottom halves. That usual Roland Mouret streamlined, curve hugging silhouette has taken a small sabbatical and in its place has stepped an Italian siren, straight out of, and we’ll quote “the golden age of Italian cinema in the late 1940s and early 1950s”. Apparently, well not apparently, we have the collection notes in front of us, Roland has drawn inspiration this season from “the pink neorealism era of Italy’s Cinecittà, referred to as ‘Hollywood on the Tiber’.” Think fluidity, think tailored capri pants, think cleavage flaunting dresses who’s hems dance around calves as you move, and above think 50′s Italian glamour and va-va-voom.
