Giorgio Armani Milan SS16

We were all for the pastel patterned knits and wide silky pants and one particular ruched-waist anorak, in a silvery grey, and made in one of those clever techno fabrics, that Mr Armani does so well. Yes, there were suits and separates for any smart wardrobe, but it’s those test-tube fabrics, that the designer and his team spend months developing, that leave the competition miles behind. Armani sits at the vanguard of what the Japanese call “life-wear” meaning clothes that are designed for living. Trousers need to walk and work for a busy man; the fabric needs to breath in the heat of summer, too. Everything goes through this intelligent process: “Do the clothes work?” asks Mr Armani. The answer, of course, is a resounding “Si!”
