Yes, Dominic, I am watching The First Monday In May trailer again. No, I am not ashamed. I will probably watch it again today. Possibly another three times. Maybe it’s that emotive string music, maybe it’s Anna, maybe it’s all those goddamn gowns – but either way, I’m excited. Quiveringly so. But mainly for Anna, let’s be honest, and mainly because I’m waiting to to see her call someone fat again (“She looks pregnant. We need to fix her”). Or that they have bad hair (“Let’s talk about Sienna, because her hair is not looking its best.”) That kind of thing gets us off, you see. Dominic is excited too, really. I can tell. I see him looking over at Rihanna with a wistful look in his eyes, the slightest squeal emerging from his lips as she shouts, “what’s up Met Ball?!”. So what’s it all about? Well, as you may have guessed, The First Monday In May is a behind-the-scenes look at the Met Ball, “the superbowl of social fashion events” according to André Leon Talley, as well as following the making of the China: Through The Looking Glass exhibition,. So basically, the September Issue with more celebs, more ballgowns and a bit of an arty slant. And still plenty of Miss Wintour. Dreamy. Now, our lucky American cousins can watch it in (selected) cinemas now, but for everyone else, watch the trailer above, it’ll be out in September…
