10 Questions With Miss Bashful As She Gears Up To Play Movement Festival

Miss Bashful is anything but. Mexico-born and Texas-raised, the artist, also known as Miss B (her legal name remains undisclosed), has risen to prominence in the queer rave scene for her high-octane, choppy rhythms and confident, unapologetic flows. Now based in Berlin, she’s a regular booking for technohead haunts like RSO and Komplex, pleasing the masses with her signature, sexy sound she describes as the trademark-worthy “slut tech”. Pairing her upbeat, ghetto-tech tracks with a dolled-up visual identity that’s laced with humour, Miss Bashful’s world is a carefree utopia where being delightfully outlandish and outrageous is the only way. On May 8, Miss Bashful dropped her most recent album titled Glamour Snobby, comprised of nine snappy tunes that whisk listeners into an whirlwind of electro pop. Often seen wearing barely-there bodysuits and strappy showstoppers crafted by indie designers from latex and leather, Miss Bashful is also becoming as much a darling of the fash-pack as she is the musicheads.

Currently on a tour of the US, Miss Bashful is bringing her zesty vim to a set at Movement Festival in Detroit on May 23. At a time of rising conservative censorship, her music feels like a breath of fresh air, and her set is one of the most anticipated of the weekend. A retired stripper now channelling her creativity in this new realm, we could all learn a little something from Miss B – be bold, be yourself and don’t take life too seriously. Here, we speak with Miss Bashful about what’s on her rider, her upcoming show and what she’s most excited for next.

1. Hey Miss Bashful! What are you bashful about?

I’ve actually always been kinda shy hehe. But throughout the years I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone. Stripping really helped me with that.

2. You’re playing Movement Festival this weekend – what’s your favourite thing about performing at festivals?

Omg I can’t wait – I’ve heard it’s one of the most iconic festivals and Detroit has swaggg like no other. I feel like they are always different – I never know what to expect. But club vibes are always my favourite, it feels so intimate, like we’re all making love.

3. What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen from stage?

Some cuties in the crowd type the most random shit on their phones and it’s always funny to read what they write. Some favorites I’ve seen include “want a line?”, “spit on me” and “can i be ur bf number 45?”.

4. You’ve just released your Glamour Snobby album – if you had to save one track from a burning building, what would it be and why?

Glamour Snobby. It’s a bad bitch national anthem.

5. If Glamour Snobby were a smell, what would it be?

Like as if I just smoked a Vogue cig and then I sprayed sweet perfume on top.

6. What’s on your rider?

Extra Dry Prosecco and Casa Azul tequila.

7. In your view, who are the top 3 most glamorous people ever?

Lana, Del, Rey.

8. If you had to wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Something from Agent Provocateur.

9. Post-show, where are you headed?

Depends. If I’m feelin’ cracked up, I’ll go to an afters or club. If not then I’m takin’ my ass to sleep.

10. What’s coming up for you that you’re excited about?

I’ve been away from Berlin for two months so I’m ready to just get back in my sexy penthouse, smoke cigarettes and have lots of sex. It’s the simple things in life.
