10 People To Meet Staz Lindes

As far as we’re concerned, Instagram exists for people like Lindes. That’s @yostazyo for those who aren’t already following.

As one of Re:Quest Model Management’s most successful faces, Lindes’s daily updates for her 40,000+ followers are inevitably filled with small tastes of what it must be like hopping from one fashion capital to the next on assignments for some of the most influential magazines and prestigious houses around. Across her Insta wall Lindes picks out the runway looks she has most enjoyed sporting, gets an arm around the designers responsible for some quick co-selfies, and sneaks in a little LOL every so often for a mirror shot of her latest hair and make-up transformation. There are plenty of super-normal 20-year-old antics in there as well. From hanging out in the sunshine of her native LA to monging out at home, it’s enough to make you feel that, beyond her extraordinary wide-eyed, china-doll looks, she could almost be the girl next door. The incredibly cool girl next door who you’re quietly desperate to be friends with.

Why did you move to LA?

“We moved here when I was five as my mum wanted to raise my brother and me here.”

What’s your favourite thing to do in LA?

“Drive around listening to the best music really loud, go to the beach, eat tacos.”

How would you define yourself?

“Nostalgic, passionate, a lover of good food and music.”

Why did you decide to do what you do?

“I’ve always loved taking pictures and being in pictures ever since I was a kid. Not only is modelling like professional dress-up, but I also am lucky enough to get pictures that I will keep with me for the rest of my life – hopefully ones my future kids will see and say, ‘Wow, you used to look pretty cool.’ This job felt only natural to me. I love the art in photographs.”

What would you say are the essentials to becoming famous in your profession?

“I believe that all good things take time. I try to do things with love, therefore I’m not rushing it. Some people choose the partying, social-climbing, overnight-success route, but that has never felt right to me. The things that last take effort and work. Be nice to everybody – we aren’t very different from each other, after all. Always try to keep a good attitude.”

What do you do to relax?

“Wander off by myself, people watch, read a good book, or sleep.”

What do you do for fun?

“I love hanging out with my friends the best. I have the most fun playing music and sharing music.”

Is there anything you would like to do but never seem to have the time?

“I’m dying to go to Australia.”

What is the most ridiculous rumour you’ve heard about yourself? Is it true?

“Getting lip injections, of course. No way! I would never touch my face.”

Have you “arrived”?

“Haha. I hope so.”

Have you been to Disneyland?

“The best place in the world.”

What was your favourite ride?

“Pirates of the Caribbean has been my favourite since I was a kid, but my new favourite is Tower of Terror in California Adventure.”

Health food or champagne?

“Health food. I get way too wasted on champagne, and what a headache!”
