Uber-stylist Robins’ work has been in every truly fabulous magazine worthy of a good finger lick, flick and ooh-ahh over.
“Truly fabulous” determined by us, of course. We who were seriously disturbing others with our most recent bit of admiring at the airport newsagents, en route to meet the man himself for a quick portrait and “Why LA?” Q&A session.
Why did you move to LA?
“Because I always loved it here and, contrary to my appearance, I’m not getting any younger, so one day I just thought, ‘Fuck it.’ I always knew I was destined for Hollywood.”
What’s your favourite thing to do in LA?
“Live the dream.”
What would you say are the essentials to becoming famous in your profession?
“Be a great liar, smile, be incredibly good looking and hilariously funny – and having a shopping addiction always helps.”
What do you do to relax?
“Ignore emails and turn up the music so loud I can’t hear myself sing.”
What do you do for fun?
“Grind like I’m working for tips.”
Is there anything you would like to do but never seem to have the time?
“Booty shots, cheek and pec implants, nose job, chin lift, bleach my hair, read a book, learn to dance, win an Oscar.”
What is the most ridiculous rumour you’ve heard about yourself? Is it true?
“Like I’m going to tell you. And yes it is.”
Have you “arrived”?
“Depends who’s checking my ticket.”
Have you been to Disneyland? What was your favourite ride?
“God, years ago. I think it was the one with the little people and the small women who wear nice ballgowns. Not sure what it’s called. Truthfully, I was much more excited to meet Snow White; I thought she was so beautiful. I was seven at the time.”
Health food or champagne?
“Naturally champagne – but only if it’s expensive. Unfortunately, though, the reality is often health food.”
