10 Magazine On Newsstands This Week Editors

“There is a perfection films represent, they imitate reality, the perfection of what reality could be at its very best.”

I had to totally lift this quote from the talented Mr Roland Mouret, because I honestly couldn’t have said it better myself.

As this season unfolded, more and more designers lifted cinematic references and incorporated them into the shows and their collections. Prada’s Hitchcock girls stalked the catwalk, Catherine Deneuve from The Hunger appeared in Roland Mouret’s show, a similar dark heroine in Gucci, the beautiful boudoir girl in Louis Vuitton – a little Belle de jour meets The Night Porter. Generally across the board this season, designers found these women and brought them to life on their catwalks.

It became an obsession for me, too, an uncontrollable urge to do the same in the magazine. I was compelled to find a way to bring them to life in the issue. We tasked all our contributors to fill the pages with their most creative interpretations of the films that had inspired them. We even discussed with designers what their most memorable and influential cinematic references were and devoted a mini section of the issue to their enlightened views.

Using both words and pictures we have tried to create this parallel world informed by film but driven by the individual interpretation of each and every contributor to bring their influences to each story.

We hope we have created an opportunity for you to escape, dear Tenners, into our world, our windows into the intimate dialogue that informs each story. Where, like film, we create a world where “blemishes are diminished, vanish”.

Really, a place where each turn of the page is another rich moment of individualism, voyeurism and true escapism.

Hopefully, as with the films that have inspired each and every story, you will be willing yourself to become the person on the pages
