Introducing 10 Magazine’s 25 Anniversary Issue – Read The Editor’s Letter

Introducing 10 Magazine Issue 75 –  BIRTHDAY, EVOLVE, TRANSFORMATION – out September 15.

We’re celebrating our silver anniversary with our biggest issue to date, totalling at 764 pages including a special Watches and Jewellery supplement.

It has been an unprecedented year of change. Fashion, beauty and creativity are transforming at such speeds against a backdrop of political and social upheaval. Old certainties, structures and systems are crumbling. New ones are emerging.

Across the issue, experience the roll call of incredible leading creative talents, who have shared our journey over the past 25 years. Here, photographed by Nick Knight and styled by Anna Trevelyan, model Colin Jones looks heroic in the statuesque designs of Pieter Mulier’s Alaïa summer/autumn 2025 collection.

For more of what’s inside the issue, read Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou’s editor’s letter below:

The last Silver Jubilee I celebrated was in 1977. My brilliant Mamma made me one of my favourite dresses. It was a little summer dress covered in loads of Union Jacks with a smocked bodice and little ties at the shoulders. I wore it to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee. I now find myself celebrating my very own Silver Jubilee and, in truth, it feels quite surreal.

Sadly, I don’t have that beautiful dress anymore, but today I still experience the same pride and joy I felt when I wore it. I can barely believe that I took the decision to create and experience this wondrous creative journey for 25 glorious years.

So, what does this special silver anniversary issue, our biggest ever, have in store? To state the glaringly obvious, it has been an unprecedented year of change. Fashion, beauty and creativity are transforming at such speeds against a backdrop of political and social upheaval. Old certainties, structures and systems are crumbling. New ones are emerging.

The discussion I felt most compelled to have was about the unjust marginalisation and victimisation of the trans community. What I felt strongly about was creating a platform to encourage a strong sense of community. I wanted to give a powerful and positive platform to trans people in an era where they are subject to fear and uncertainty. We endeavour to explore the diversity, creativity, beauty and talent of this community with a special portrait portfolio shot by the legendary Derek Ridgers and accompanied by Max Rossi’s essay, which discusses how the culture war on the trans community affects everyone.

The trans community is celebrated throughout the issue. On the fashion pages, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, the celebrated poet and model, poses for a portfolio and talks about their move into music. London’s LGBTQ+ community appear in AW25’s best looks for photographer Kasia Wozniak. And Osman Ahmed sits for a portrait series and writes, beautifully, of the fluidity of their identity.

Elsewhere in the issue is a roll call of incredible leading creative talents who have shared our journey. Favourite contributors from the past quarter century are welcomed back onto our pages: Mario Sorrenti, Nick Knight, Juergen Teller, Richard Burbridge, Cedric Buchet and Vanina Sorrenti all lens portfolios.

Speaking of transformation, Erin O’Connor, who celebrates 30 years as a model this year, poses for a special portfolio inspired by my signature style that was commissioned by Toby Grimditch, editor-in-chief of 10 Deutsch. Erin brilliantly embodies my big-haired, Alaïa-clad look and reflects on her own three decades in fashion.

Edward Enninful, a long-time friend of 10, appears in a special portrait portfolio to celebrate the launch of his EE72 magazine and media brand. He marks this personal and professional milestone with images by Juergen Teller, Steven Meisel, Jamie Hawkesworth, Campbell Addy, Tim Walker, Craig McDean, Adama Jalloh and Inez & Vinoodh, and is also interviewed by Anders Christian Madsen.

Two legends of the industry come together when Suzy Menkes interviews Carla Sozzani about curating the past for the future, with Sozzani wearing prize pieces from her personal Azzedine Alaïa archive.

We interview the insightful and brilliant Bella Freud and discuss her move into podcasting. I’m full of admiration for how she has transformed herself into one of fashion’s most inspiring storytellers.

Creating the issue has been nostalgic too, bringing back the brilliance of 10 staffers like Richard Gray, whose storytelling I relish and adore, and remembering our beautiful Natalie Dembinska, who we sadly lost in 2024. Her satire and wit were so very brilliant.

The evolution and transformation of 10 is nothing I could ever have predicted and I feel so fortunate that I took the leap of faith and created my own special world. In the words of Bella Freud, “The key trait of success is not to give up pushing.” After 25 years of 10, I couldn’t agree more. It’s all about hard work, tenacity and determination to make the impossible possible.

I feel so very lucky every day.
