Magazines often like to throw around the term ‘high octane glamour.’ I’ve never been quite certain about where this comes from. A Google search says that ‘high octane’ ‘denotes petrol having a high octane number and thus good anti-knock properties.’ Eh? Whatever. It seems a suitable term here – Lanvin’s latest campaign is all about glamorous ladies. High octane glamour. They are dripping in luxury and sparkle. Sequins. Fur. Gold. Face-covering hats. Curly goat hair. A tasseled bag, always essential. I can’t take my eyes off those carpets either. A carpeted stair, especially in jacquard, is true luxury and usually reserved only for five star hotels and the houses of oligarchs. Some girls have all the luck!
