LOUIS VUITTON
As we enter the show venue the anticipation is so, so strong the excitement of what wonders of Marc’s imagination we will experience today was tangible. We enter, four lines of escalators at the end of the room on a checker board floor like a giant yellow chess board we sit and wait for the descending girls to fill the space. First looks start descending in two’s like little mirror images of each other, sisters almost with varying proportion and checker board scale they start in yellow and beige and black one is a trouser version of the other, one is a mini dress while the other is a coat there are similar but not the same. Synchronised in their movements on the catwalk almost gliding like little fashion mirages along the checker board floor, almost entrancing, mesmerising. The clothes message was singular and clear almost a hint of the 60’s and alittle Edie Sedgewick but cleaned up before the factory days. Crisp, graphic and very linear in it’s delivery and idea, clarity here was the aim of the game and ultimately what Marc achieved who explored his ideas thoroughly in this show.
