HURRICANE SANDY
The haunting image of the aftermath of Sandy, the face off of the building on 14th street a block from where we stay at Soho House. It honestly looked like a giant had come along and sliced right through the house. Left it looking like a huge dolls house. When we finally got through the grid locked traffic today to retrieve more basics for our extended exile upton we found it chained up, shut down total evacuation. Garth returned traumatised with tales of people rummaging through bins for provisions. A total divide exists from one side of the city to the next virtually apocalyptic. Heard one girl say she has been unable to shower since Sandy arrived on Monday as not electricity or water. Tales of people gathering in friends houses for shelter. Just so frightening how fragile our existence is and we have come to rely on so much to survive.
