It was to the swinging sixties that we were taken this season with Giambattista Valli. It was all youthquake and flowers. Lots of flowers. Powerful flowers. Flower power. But like the popular 80s power ballad by Poison Heeds, Every Rose Has Its Thorn. And this girl is not to be taken lightly. By day, she glides around Paris in light chiffon blouses, scarf wrapped around her neck – the pinnacle of modesty. But by night, she is transformed, the scarf is gone and replaced by plunging necklines to reveal her negligee and knickers. This girl is no wallflower. So whether you’re a timid tulip or a ravishing rose, Giambattista sure has something for you my petal.
