Chitose Abe is the queen of the mash-up. And not of the mix-tape variety, although the allusions to 1980s legendary nightclub Paradise Garage in her Spring collection suggest she may be pretty good at that too. No, this was a mash-up of the clothing variety – where east meets west and feminine silhouettes are distorted into twisted street-wear cuts. But the consistent motif was the bandana – once used in a pre-Grindr world for cruising purposes hung out the back pocket – the familiar paisley print re-purposed here as dresses, pleated trousers and trailing sheer layers. We’ll be hanging them from every spare surface come spring. And maybe we’ll even attract ourselves a willing man in the process.
