“I wanted to show the tropical in an abstract way,” said Thakoon Panichgul on show that marked his 10th anniversary on the New York Fashion Week Schedule. “It was exoticism through the eyes of a tourist. That was the dream for me with this collection.” Tropical abstraction was felt in his tailoring, in the dressing gown dresses, sarong-inspired strapless dresses and pajama trousers, and in the beaded embellishments and raffia fringe. When we think of tropical, we naturally think of cocktails. And that’s exactly what we would like to be having while wearing this marvellous clothes.
