Yes there are two covers. TWO COVERS! Now for some words from our fearless Grecian leader:

“Travel is beautiful, travel is a pause in life that takes us somewhere blissful… Gives you a sense of being disembodied”… Becoming a ghost in these places – Tony Marcus.

I have always had travel fever, ants in my pants, a gypsy soul. The idea of not experiencing all the different cultures and wondrous sights from all over the world is inconceivable to me. I dream of absorbing it all. I feel like it’s a race against time to gobble up every last morsel of experience I can physically have. Safe to say, an addiction has developed.

I honestly feel travel expands your mind, enriches your outlook and often makes you really appreciate everything you have always taken for granted.

Ultimately, for me, there is no place like home, and as time goes by I appreciate this fact more and more, but it also has not diminished my wanderlust at all.

My first memories of travel are of when I was about five, when my parents took us on our yearly pilgrimage to our homeland, Cyprus. This was an adventure, seeing all the relatives I had (not a clue who they were), a whole new wardrobe for us that my mum had made, fresh haircuts, new shoes and as many presents as we could ram into the cases for our huge extended family.

We had to look spick and span, immaculate, as our extended family would always be meeting us en masse at the airport and, as you never get a second chance to make a first impression, we were dressed up like we were off to a party.

To this day I refuse to travel any other way. Mainly Alaïa (very comfy, stretchy dress) and my heels. I mean, imagine been dragged out of wreckage wearing a polyester tracksuit and running shoes. NO WAY. I ask you, why has this become the attire of the majority of travellers? We are not running anywhere, jogging at high speed to get there, so why do we need performance sportswear to get on a plane and sit for a few hours to get from A to B? No, no, no. There is, in my reckoning, no excuse for this, never has been, never will be. Performance sportswear is for athletes, not travellers.

Enough of my ranting, I digress. I wanted the theme of the issue to be travel and it rapidly evolved into t rains, planes and automobiles. Oh and not forgetting our gorgeous cover girl, Noomi Rapace, on a bike. So off we went to LA, New York, Japan, Paris and London to try to give the sense of our travels, our creative journey. We also asked all our contributors to give us snapshots of their travels from around the globe, to see what their eyes see. On our creative journey we documented the weird and wonderful things we are fed on aeroplanes from all our different flights, and of course, fashion in the sky in the form of all the air stewardesses and all their lustrous attire.

So to coin one of my favourite travel phrases, “Come fly with me.” I hope you enjoy the ride, dear Tenners.
