Perfectly described by master of the craft Michel Gaubert to style.com as ‘Ghetto Royale’. The collection initially evoked 18th century monarchy, but quickly gave way to something achingly contemporary, as feminine outfits rich with period features, were broken up by street observed detail. Of course, with a Chanel presentation EVERY detail is painstakingly considered to cinematic effect, transforming each exit into a well crafted character. And what’s more important for building a character than the face? The exquisite work of Chanel Make-up’s Creative Director was framed by pastel do’s that were part Courtney on the pitch ala Be A Man, and part Prince charming pony. Flawless complexions came courtesy of Moche de Beaute highlighting powder. While Ombre Essentielle Eyeshadow in Rose Favourite, and Joues Contraste Powder blush in Rose Petale cast an electric pink glow border line Jem (truly outrageous). The finishing touch? The brand has plans to expand into stationery. Something we’re a little obsessed with at 10 Towers, and obviously eager to welcome into our worlds. As the brand already produces pens, notebooks, and agendas, the expansion is believed to include ‘paper goods and paraphernalia’, and is apparently tied to the expansion of the Saint- Germain-des-Prés boutique. An area which has ‘long been a magnet for writers’. We were rather obsessed with the properness of Kims Doctor style bags for A/W and Hoorah! Now we’ll have lots of proper things to fill em’ with.
